One Community – Working Together Currently in Atlanta, the high school graduation rate for African American males is less than 50%. And of those who do graduate, many leave high school without the financial means to attend college. Since 2011, the Lawrenceville- Duluth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and the LDAC Foundation have worked to change this trend by hosting a mentoring program young men and by awarding college scholarships to further their advancement in life.

The Impact – Since 2011, we have awarded over $230,000 in college scholarships and have provided over $94,000 in mentoring to over 500 young men. This is only possible through the support of the community. Our mentoring program is designed to address the academic, social and community issues that students face daily by providing them with an opportunity to work independently and collectively in cooperative learning circles with selected mentors and expert. Our scholarships are designed to aid and encourage students as they begin their journey of academic excellence, leadership and dedication to serving the community.
